Special purpose machines, designed, built and programmed in Coimbatore
From our projects, running
Short clips from the shop floor. Tap any of them to play with sound.
A large Anayak milling machine, retrofitted onto a modern CNC control, swapping its milling head on its own — a sequence that lives in the machine's PLC. Old iron, new brain.

Each one has its own page with how we do it, what you get and the questions buyers ask — or see every service on one page.
What every machine ships with
- The source, not just the machine. PLC and HMI projects and the electrical drawings are yours to keep and change.
- Documents a maintenance team can use. I/O list, alarm list with the likely cause of each alarm, parameter sheet with defaults and limits, HMI page guide and commissioning steps — as PDF.
- A program tested before the machine is wired. The PLC logic runs against a simulated machine at our desk first, so sequence mistakes are found there and not on your floor.
- No silent hangs. Every movement has a timeout and a named alarm, and the message line always tells the operator what to do next.
- A defined safe stop. Emergency stop and STOP take the machine through a known sequence — exhaust, lift, release, unclamp — not just “everything off”.
- Ready for data. Counts, results and cycle times sit in tags that a SCADA, OEE or traceability system can read without reprogramming.
How a machine gets built
The same six steps whether it is a two-cylinder fixture or a multi-station test machine.
- STEP 01Part and process studyYou send the part, a drawing or a phone video of how the job is done today, and the output you need. We ask until we know what makes a part good or bad.
- STEP 02Free concept and budgetA layout sketch, the sequence of operation, a cycle-time estimate and a budget range. Free, no obligation. If a machine will not pay for itself, we say so.
- STEP 03Design and reviewMechanical design in SolidWorks, electrical drawings in EPLAN or AutoCAD Electrical, the pneumatic circuit — reviewed with you before anything is cut or bought.
- STEP 04Build and programFabrication, panel wiring and assembly, with the PLC and HMI program written in parallel and run against a simulated machine.
- STEP 05Trial with your partsThe machine runs your parts in Coimbatore before it is dispatched. Come and watch the trial, or we send you the video.
- STEP 06Install, train, hand overInstallation and commissioning at your plant, training for operators and maintenance, and the full set of documents and source files.
For plants that make
Machines and software from one company
ElectronIx also writes industrial software. ElectronIx DNC moves part programs between a PC and Fanuc CNCs, and runs on 23 machines at a precision engineering company in Coimbatore. The same habits go into our machines: logic that is tested before it ships, and a record of what the machine did.
Who designs your machine
ElectronIx is run by Dinesh Kumar G, an electrical and electronics engineer with more than nine years in industrial automation — all of it on the shop floor rather than behind a sales desk.
- PLC programmer at Vego Machines: a 4-axis servo pick-and-place stacker on Delta PLC and HMI.
- Project engineer at Qtech CNC Service: retrofits of more than 20 VMCs, HMCs and turning centres onto Fanuc, Siemens 828D and Fagor 8055i controls.
- Automation engineer at WelVision Innovations: automated visual inspection for bearing manufacturers, integrated with Siemens S7 and Allen Bradley PLCs.
- Assembly automation, leak testing, test rigs and plant-wide IIoT for a pneumatic components manufacturer in Coimbatore.
- Author of the ElectronIx software, including ElectronIx DNC.
When you send an enquiry, he is the one who reads it, prepares the concept and, if the machine is built, commissions it.
Questions buyers ask
What is a special purpose machine (SPM)?
A machine designed for one job on one kind of part — leak testing a valve body, pressing and checking an assembly, loading a fixture — rather than a general-purpose machine you buy from a catalogue. Because it does one thing, it can do it faster and more consistently than a person with a general tool, and it can check its own work on every part.
How much does a special purpose machine cost?
It depends on the number of stations, how much motion there is, and what has to be measured — a single-station pneumatic fixture and a six-station leak tester with data logging are very different machines. You get a budget range with the free concept, and a fixed quotation once the scope is agreed. We do not publish a price list because two SPMs are rarely the same machine.
How long does it take to build an SPM?
The schedule is part of the quotation, with milestones for design approval, build, trial at our end and installation at yours. Work on an existing machine's PLC program can start as soon as we have a backup of the program and access to the machine, on site or remotely.
Which PLC and HMI brands do you work with?
Your plant standard, if you have one, so your maintenance team is not left with something unfamiliar. We program Siemens S7-1200 and S7-1500 (TIA Portal), Omron (Sysmac Studio and CX-One), Delta, Mitsubishi, Allen Bradley and CODESYS-based controllers, with Weintek, Delta and Siemens WinCC operator screens.
Do we get the PLC program and the electrical drawings?
Yes. The PLC and HMI projects as source, not just a compiled file, the electrical drawings, and the document set: I/O list, alarm list with causes, parameter sheet and commissioning steps. A machine your own team cannot fault-find is a machine you will be calling us about for every small problem.
Can you modify a machine that someone else built?
Yes — adding a station or a sensor, changing the sequence, adding a test or a data log, rewriting HMI screens, or replacing an obsolete PLC with a current one. Start by sending a backup of the existing program and photos of the panel; we will tell you what is realistic before quoting.
Do you only work in Coimbatore?
Machines are designed, built and trialled in Coimbatore and then installed and commissioned at your plant. PLC and HMI work on an existing machine can often be done remotely, with a site visit for commissioning.
Start with the part
Tell us what the machine has to do and how many parts it has to do it to. A drawing, a photo of the part and a phone video of the job as it is done today are worth more than a long specification.
Prefer to talk? Call or WhatsApp — the buttons are at the top and bottom of every page. For a structured brief, the SPM requirement checklist lists what a machine builder needs to know.
Have a job that a machine should be doing?
Send the part and the target output. You get a concept, a sequence and a budget range back — free, and with no obligation to build it with us.
